About JetSet Authority

Two questions come before every trip by air: how far is it, and how long will I be in the air? JetSet Authority answers both for any pair of 3,245 airports, together with the clock change and the local time you land.

Everything is computed from open data — OurAirports for airports and runways, the IANA time-zone database, Natural Earth for the maps — and rebuilt every week as those sources change. The flight-time estimate is our own model, and the methodology page shows how it was calibrated and how far off it is on 109 published scheduled durations.

The runway diagrams are drawn to scale by this site from surveyed runway-end coordinates. Airport photos come from Wikimedia Commons under licences that allow reuse and are credited on each page.

What we don’t do

We don’t list airlines, timetables, fares or live flight status: that information comes from proprietary systems, and a guess would be worse than nothing. There is no sign-up, no advertising and no tracking.

Corrections

Airport data comes from OurAirports, a community project; if a runway or coordinate looks wrong, the fix belongs there and reaches this site at the next weekly rebuild.
